Frequently Asked Questions
How Do Solar Panels Actually Work?
Solar panels are made out of conductive materials. When the sun's rays hit them, the panel creates DC power. The DC power is inverted to AC power to use in your home.
Does the System Work on Cloudy or Snowy Days?
Just like you can get a tan on a cloudy day, the panels can generate energy. When designing your system, we will take up to 50 years of historical weather data into consideration to account for those cloudy, snowy and rainy days.
What If the Power Goes Out?
The system will shut down automatically. It's a matter of safety. If it didn't, the energy would still flow back into the grid posing a serious threat to line workers. When the power goes out, a standby generator or battery backup can power your home.
How are Panels Maintained?
On most systems, there are no moving parts and therefore little to no maintenance is required. Thanks to remote monitoring technology, you will have 24/7 access to your system status online. If any errors occur, we will be able to diagnose and oftentimes fix the issue with the touch of a button!
What If I Have To Replace My Roof?
If your roof is nearing the end of it's life, we recommend you consider replacing it before installation. Our project managers will assess the condition of your roof, make a recommendation, and include a quote to replace if necessary. Ask us about our Master Roofer Program!
How Do I Know if My Home Qualifies for Solar?
That's what we're here for! Sit back and let one of our project managers do the heavy lifting. We pride ourselves on a laid-back, educational approach to the estimating process. No high pressure sales tactics, just a conversation where we can listen and let you show us how we can best serve you.
